Ofrenda and Friends Hall

Ofrenda and Friends! We will be launching a fun new October activity and would love your support! We are working to include more cultural activities in our school this year and Dia De Los Muertos is a special Spanish holiday coming up where ancestors are remembered through ofrendas. An Ofrenda is a traditional Mexican way to remember deceased loved ones where photographs and items the deceased person enjoyed and cared about are set up on a small table to welcome their spirit and remember them. In order to preserve space and keep special items safe, we are asking students to create 'digital ofrendas' with pictures and images or drawings of things their special person cares about in 2D form, created on Cavna or by hand. Students can bring printed off (8x10 papers or flat poster boards) paper ofrendas into school anytime between now and Nov. 3rd. The office can print them if needed, then we will hang them down an 'Ofrenda Hallway' which will be decorated with special Dia De Los Muertos decor! This will be going on throughout the month of October, culminating in an after-school 'Ofrendas and Friends' activity on November 3rd from 2:30-3:30 in the school gym, where each child is encouraged to bring a 'friend' (parent, grandparent, friend etc--families welcome!) to come view the hallway, enjoy a special Spanish/English Story Teller and have a unique Spanish treat together! We hope everyone will participate!

Log In:
Go to your Clever account using your school email.

Open the Template:
Use the Digital Ofrenda provided to design your own table.

Add Details:
Include pictures of your ancestors and their favorite items on your Ofrenda.

Turn It In:
When finished, either:
- Print it and bring it to school, or
- Email it to Mr. Bowman and we’ll print it for you.

Need a Paper Version?
If Canva feels tricky, ask your teacher for a printed version or print the attached copy from this email. You can draw or glue copies of photos instead!

Please do not send original pictures with your Ofrenda because we can’t guarantee their return.

¡Ofrenda y amigos! Lanzaremos una nueva y divertida actividad para octubre y nos encantaría contar con su apoyo. Estamos trabajando para incluir más actividades culturales en nuestra escuela este año. El Día de Muertos es una festividad española especial en la que se recuerda a los antepasados mediante ofrendas. Una ofrenda es una forma tradicional mexicana de recordar a los seres queridos fallecidos. Se colocan fotografías y objetos que la persona fallecida apreciaba y apreciaba en una mesa pequeña para recibir su espíritu y recordarlos. Para ahorrar espacio y mantener seguros los objetos especiales, les pedimos a los estudiantes que creen ofrendas digitales con imágenes o dibujos de cosas que le importan a su persona especial en formato 2D, creadas en Cavna o a mano. Los estudiantes pueden traer ofrendas impresas (en papel de 8x10 o cartulinas planas) a la escuela en cualquier momento entre ahora y el 3 de noviembre. La oficina puede imprimirlas si es necesario y luego las colgaremos en un pasillo de ofrendas, que estará decorado con decoración especial del Día de Muertos. Esto se llevará a cabo durante todo el mes de octubre y culminará con la actividad extraescolar "Ofrendas y Amigos" el 3 de noviembre, de 14:30 a 15:30, en el gimnasio del colegio. Animamos a cada niño a traer a un amigo (padre, madre, abuelo, amigo, etc. ¡Las familias son bienvenidas!) para que vengan a ver el pasillo, disfruten de un cuentacuentos especial en español/inglés y disfruten de una experiencia única en español. ¡Esperamos que todos participen!

Inicia sesión:
Entra a tu cuenta de Clever usando tu correo escolar.

Abre la plantilla:
Usa la plantilla Digital Ofrenda que se ha compartido para diseñar tu propia mesa.

Agrega detalles:
Incluye fotos de tus antepasados y algunos de sus objetos favoritos en tu Ofrenda.

Entrégala:
Cuando termines, puedes:
- Imprimirla y traerla a la escuela, o
- Enviar un correo electrónico al Sr. Bowman para que podamos imprimirla por ti.

Si Canva te resulta difícil, pide a tu maestro/a una copia impresa o imprime la que está adjunta en este correo. Puedes dibujar o pegar fotos en ella.
